Fu Hao

Lady Fu Hao again.
Entry for the final round of Miss Doll History.

The theme was Masquerade Ball, so formal wear, a mask, and a background were required.

We don't know too much about Shang Dynasty formal wear because the textiles haven't survived, so I had to make some educated guesses on the outfit design. Like we know the han fu was the standard outfit for everything, so formal wear was probably an elaborate han fu. We also know that phoenix imagery started to appear during this period, so use of phoenix crowns and robes may have started around this time as well. Fu Hao was also the favorite wife of King Wu Ding, so she would've been dressed in the finest materials available.

The background was inspired by a tutorial by . I didn't quite follow it since I'm a tool shader, but looking over it was definitely inspiring.
I wanted to make the mountains green, but the red matches the pageant's website, so I guess they'll have to do

It took about 5 days of work, off and on.

I'm quite happy with it, but as usually I'll probably wait a few days and fix some things before sending it in to the pageant.

[edit] I couldn't help myself and fixed some things that were bugging me. I tweaked the mountains, added the moon, fixed some problems I had with the face, and deepened the shading. And now I'm so ready to be done with her ^^
